Global Experience
Our School is committed to providing global perspectives and education not just with our own teaching and research, but also through collaborative research and training programs with with many world-renowned universities. All our students, both undergraduates and postgraduates, will soon have the opportunity to study at these universities for a summer, a semester, or a full year, as part of their HKUST education. At the same time, we welcome students from our partner universities to come to Hong Kong as international exchange students, and to understand China more through Hong Kong, China’s southern gateway city. As a world-class university, our goal is to educate the citizens of the world, and to produce both the future scholars and future global leaders.

I am very glad to have the opportunity to join the exchange program. The exchange gives me a chance to expand my worldview by working and studying with other professors and students in another country. In the meantime, studying abroad also provides me with the chance to get to know another culture, which is very helpful for me to understand top existing research in U.S. and do some comparative studies in the future. 
I joined the HKUST-UVA exchange because I want a global education. A global education means learning about similarities by looking at differences. As a student of Chinese history and anthropology, I have learned a lot about myself and my own American culture, and by studying American history and anthropology at UVA I hope to learn a lot about China.
